Three Falls Swimming Holes

Writer's picture: The travelling dogThe travelling dog

Hello there! It has been a while since we posted anything. Rainy season is finally over and we are back! This past weekend, we made our way back to Three Falls (also known as Futashima Umezu Falls and Two Deer Falls on Google Maps). When we first visited this area, I was not planning on writing a blog, so I did not have a lot of information on it.

Here is what I have:

- Google maps has 3 routes to get you there. Take Route 186 to 130. You will have two lanes for most of the way with a few stretches of one-lane road/two-way traffic.

- From the parking lot, you can take the road to the bridge if you would like to hike a whopping 500 m (~ 7 minutes), or you can take the road all the way down to the main swimming hole.

- The swimming holes are deeper in the summer. The water is cool but not freezing cold.

We recommend bringing water shoes, as the rocks can be sharp and hurt your feet.

And for the puppies, life vest are always a good idea. They can get tired since the water is constantly moving, so be mindful of the current.

Also, this place can get crowded on the weekends, so maybe a week day would be better for the dogs. Enjoy the outdoors!

Happy trails with tails!
