We spent a hot summer day on Kasado Island, a small island across from Hikari. The island offers many overlooks, plenty of parking, some hiking trails, and a beautiful and relatively calm beach. Hanaguri beach is about an hour away from MCAS Iwakuni, depending on traffic and it offers restrooms, showers, and vending machines with drinks. There is also a 'park', including a promenade overlooking the water.
From the beach, we took a drive to explore the island. Beautiful views, a large port, and hiking trails yet to be explored. We also found some unexpected sightings. Dinosaurs?!? What???
We will be returning in the fall to hike around. I hope to see you there. Happy trails with tails!
