Susa hornfels, Hagi 🚗🥾📷

We were supposed to head to Hagi and camp out near the Susa Hornfels. However, after the camping experience last week I was having second thoughts. Then Typhoon Haishen happened and we were spared of camping during the summer. So we turned this venture into a day trip. The drive to the Hornfels is about 2.5 hrs long on wide roads with no tolls. The park includes a picnic area, a tourist shop and gorgeous views along the trails.

From there we drove down to downtown Hagi, stopping along the way to check out the scenery. Sightseeing spots include Kitanago Beach National Park, Myojin Pond, and Mount Kasayama. Our last stop was the Hagi castle ruins (¥220 per person, dog friendly).

This is a doable day trip, but I would have preferred to spend the night and check out one of the beaches. Maybe next time. Happy trails with tails!
